Decorating cakes has been a hobby of the owner, Vicki Williamson, since age 6. While watching Aunt Glenna decorate her own wedding cake on Granny Vinson's kitchen table, she became fascinated with the craft. An Easy Bake Oven was the next outlet for the new hobby until a neighbor recognized the interest and gifted her with her first Wilton catalog/instruction book at age 11. Then in high school, a friend and fellow church member named Ollie Chappell Smith, a gifted decorator, offered local classes through the Oconee County school system.
She continued self training, evening classes, continuing education and Wilton training (offered at JC Penney stores at the time) throughout high school and college, and a career in Information Systems management. She sold her first wedding cake while in college. After her children reached school age, Vintage Bakery opened and originally operated in the Columbia, SC, region from 2005-2022. Then relocated home to Oconee County to that same kitchen Granny Vinson and Aunt Glenna once used all those years ago.
Vicki is a former member of Columbia Bridal Associates and ICES. Her work has been featured in Southern Living, Columbia Bride, Carolina Bride, Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, Columbia Living Magazine, Only In Your State, American Cake Decorating Magazine, and on the cover of Palmetto Parent Magazine.
Skill updates include an American Cake Decorating Magazine-sponsored seminar entitled "Wedding Cake Couture" in Minneapolis, MN, in 2009. The acclaimed Australian Master Decorator, Food Network Cake Challenge Judge, and Oklahoma Sugar Art Show President, Kerry Vincent, instructed the 21-hour intensive course. Gale Gand, Executive Pastry Chef and host of the former Food Network show "Sweet Dreams" also participated.
